Excuse My French

Editorial
The brief was to choose a designer of your choice and create a brochure or piece of direct mail illustrating who they are and what they do.

I chose featured Visi Magazine artists Mademoiselle Frédérique Morrel & Monsieur Aaron Levin to base my inspiration and subject for my brochure. I focused on their act of pushing back technological mass production and tried to create an air of nostalgia through the thread, weave and mixed media of their pieces and my interpretation.

I attempted to put life back into the lost art form of tapestry by mixing it with various mediums & processes. Relying heavily on their philosophy and dialogues between art & design, vintage & new, digital & handmade, ‘Excuse My French’ brochure was an intriguing and quirky approach that gave me a chance to dig into some lyrically tasteful creative writing with prescribed humour. It also gave me an intense gratification for the time consuming art form.

Not for the light hearted & impatient.
